Travel bean to plate

Vanilla is one of the most labor-intensive spices in the world. In Uganda, the beans grow on long vines in the tropical rainforest. It can take up to three years before a vanilla orchid produces its first beans.

Our farmers harvest the pods by hand when they are perfectly ripe. They are then blanched, dried, and 'aged' for months until they develop their full aroma and black color.

Did you know...

The traditional drying process is essential for the rich flavor of vanilla? Without patience and craftsmanship, true top quality is not possible.
